New Product: Final Cut Server

This seems interesting. An asset management product from Apple. Available "this summer." 10-user license is $1K, unlimited users is $2K. Not too many details yet. Here's some features.

-Searchable database for media--"100 formats supported".
-Windows client. But the database backend must run on a Mac?
-Client can be used to make cuts that will then import into FCP.
-FCP Project can be an asset. Users "check-out" a project.
-Integrated with Compressor. Will watch folders and automatically start encoding when someting is dropped. Then automatic notification when something is ready.

Watch the video on Apple's product page. I'm guessing that this is a good way to sell some Xserves and Xserve RAID's. This could be a really great productivity tool.
